ChargeLink

Wireless battery level monitoring

What is ChargeLink?

ChargeLink revolutionizes on-set workflows for camera assistants and film crews by providing a wireless, real-time solution to monitor battery levels for cameras, monitors, and other essential equipment. Built on robust yet cost-effective LoRa technology, ChargeLink ensures interference-free operation in even the busiest production environments, delivering unparalleled range and reliability. Its affordable design makes it highly scalable for productions of any size, ensuring smoother workflows, fewer interruptions, and maximum creative focus without breaking the budget.

How It Works

Easily Attachable to Existing Batteries:

Step 1 Glow

Batteries and battery plates commonly used in the film industry are equipped with D-Tap ports, designed to power camera accessories and monitors. This port provides the same voltage output as the battery itself, making it an ideal point to measure from.

Extracting the Data

Step 2

Due to its low cost, each battery in use can have a node that measures the voltage of the D-Tap port and sends it using low-frequency, interference-resistant, LoRa technology to a central hub.

Centralized Monitoring

Step 3 Glow Effect

The central hub collects data from all nodes, providing real-time battery status to the crew, enabling proactive management and preventing unexpected power losses.

What About the Range?

LoRa Range

LoRa, which stands for Long Range, is a relatively new radio communication technique operating on the legal 863MHz frequency in Europe. This lower frequency experiences less interference from common on-set devices like smartphones and wireless audio/video equipment, which typically use 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Additionally, the lower frequency enables a greater range, achieving over 1km in open air.

What About the Size?

Compact Size

The compact design, measuring only 20mm x 30mm, makes it unobtrusive and easy to handle on set. Future iterations may integrate it into D-Tap splitters or battery plates, making it an even less noticeable tool.
